Akanksha Thakur, BA: June 7, 2:30 pm

Akanksha Thakur, who graduates with a BA in sociology, completed three co-op work internships and attended an environmental field school in Indonesia. She is passionate about building a more equitable and inclusive Canada, and was recently selected as a youth ambassador for the Canadian Race Relations Foundation. She works for SFU’s’ integrated learning division, developing materials to help international students with intercultural competence and communication.

Stephen Kaita, BA: June 8, 9:45 am

Graduating with a BA in world literature, Stephen Kaita entered SFU as part of the First-Year Learning Communities Cohort program at the Surrey campus. His SFU activities included a job as an in-game promotions announcer at sporting events, and providing mentorship to peer coaches. He received the Caledonia Award in World Literature, the Judy Kelly Humanitarian Award and two Recreation Promotions awards.

Emily Co, BA: June 8, 2:30 pm

Emily Co, who graduates with a BA in psychology, completed four co-op work terms. The final co-op position, managing SFU Student Central’s social media presence, has now become a contract position that she will continue after graduation. An active volunteer on campus, she was a peer mentor and also involved in student organizations such as TEDxSFU and Passion to Lead.
