Thrive Week reinforces SFU’s commitment to student success
Simon Fraser University is committed to creating supportive campus communities in which students can thrive.
Recognizing that physical and mental well-being are the bedrock of student success, we want our students to have the skills and resources they need to manage life's inevitable stresses.
That's what SFU Thrive Week is all about. From Jan. 27 to 31, we'll be highlighting the many resources that the university has available to help foster physical, mental and emotional health.
There are a multitude of stressful issues facing students, from the difficulties of finding affordable housing, to the anxieties associated with papers and exams, to the pressures of securing employment in a highly competitive job market.
But support is available to help SFU students confront these challenges. The university provides free and confidential counselling and support services to all students through My SSP. This service can be accessed anywhere in the world by phone or through the My SSP app. And to prepare students for the challenges they will face after graduation, SFU’s Health and Counselling services organize many helpful events and workshops throughout the year.
I encourage everyone to check out the impressive line-up of events planned for Thrive Week. Some of these include: Connected Globally, Adjusting Locally, Community Cooking, Mindfulness Meditation, Strengthening Safety and Bunny Café.
(And from what I hear, people are signing up in droves to cuddle those bunnies next week!)
