If you are a Core French, French immersion or Francophone program teacher and want to deepen your teaching practices through authentic learning situations, this week is for you!
Details of the core French teachers' week
- When: July 11-15, 2022 - 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
- Where: July 11-14 at SFU Burnaby. Friday July 15 at SFU Vancouver Harbour Centre.
- Target audience: Core French teachers of grades 5 to 12 / French immersion and Francophone program teachers - all levels
- Cost*: $200 for BC certified teachers, $850 for out-of-province teachers
*This cost includes breakfast on July 11, lunches each day, as well as a meal at a French restaurant in Vancouver on July 15, and the registration fees for all activities.
Theme for each day
- Monday July 11: Building Community
Morning: Breakfast, juggling, introduction to the week's project "J'élargis mes perspectives"
Afternoon: Théâtre la Seizième workshop
- July 12: Exploring the Five Senses
Morning: Literacy activity, take a sensory walk outside
Afternoon: Physical activity (Zumba, yoga or TransCanada Trail hike)
- July 13: Exploring Identities (yours and that of your students)
Morning: Workshop on Indigenous persectives in the French classroom
Afternoon: Kayak at Deer Lake followed by a visit to the Burnaby Village Museum
- July 14: Discovering the Arts
Morning: Films and francophone cinema and visual arts workshops
Afternoon: Develop competencies in Physical Education in the gym
- July 15: Expanding Our Perspectives (in Vancouver)
Morning: Visit of the Dimensions Gallery and play session in a park
Afternoon: Lunch in a Francophone restaurant and return to Day 1 with the presentation of the "J'élargie mes perspectives" projects
