Celebrating Fass Graduands
To all FASS graduands, congratulations on your upcoming graduation! You did it! We are so excited to celebrate with you - first at your convocation ceremony, and then at your reception celebration!
Celebrate your achievements and graduation at the FASS convocation ceremony and reception. All events are held at Simon Fraser University's Burnaby campus on October 5, 2023.
In-Person Ceremony
SFU Convocation ceremonies happen in Convocation Mall, a beautiful, open air space in the centre of Burnaby campus, where SFU students have been graduating since the 1960s.
Graduating students will receive emails that direct them to collect their robes and gather together for the procession to Convocation Mall. Guests will gather and choose seating to await the ceremonies.
FASS Convocation Ceremony
Thursday, October 5, 2023, 2:30pm-4:35pm
This ceremony is for all FASS graduands.
This is the moment you have been waiting for, graduands! We cannot wait to see you cross the stage.
Reception Celebrations for all FASS Grads, Family, and Friends
Immediately following your ceremony, please join us for an in-person reception celebration at The Study located inside Maggie Benston Centre! We will be hosting a post-ceremony reception for you, your family, and your friends. It's a free & fun event that's lightly catered and an amazing opportunity to take photos with our departmental photo props!
Faculty Reception for Ceremony B
Thursday, October 5, 2023, 4:30pm-5:45pm
This reception is for all FASS graduands and their guests!
Not sure where The Study is located?
It's only steps away from where your Convocation ceremony takes place! Head inside Maggie Benston Centre (MBC) and immediately to your left there will be glass doors open with signs welcoming you to the FASS reception. Head up the stairs to find us! The entrance to The Study is right across from Student Services.
Did we mention there will be arcade games?! Be sure to bring some loonies with you to try out all of the games in The Study!
Departmental Receptions
While all FASS graduands are invited to the reception celebrations, if you are graduating from one of the following departments, you are also invited to their department-specific receptions.
Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies
October 5, 2023: 11:30am - 1:30pm at the GSWS Lounge (AQ 5101)
Please join the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies as we celebrate the convocation of our students! We will be holding an informal reception with light refreshments in the GSWS lounge (AQ 5101) on Thursday, October 5 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Please RSVP to Roberta Neilson at gswsmgr@sfu.ca if you are able to attend. Families and friends are very much welcome!
