Claudia Hart

FASS Academic Advisor

I am thrilled to be joining the FASS advising team! A little bit about me: I am a sports-lover, avid reader, and proud SFU graduate! As a former student-athlete here at SFU, I understand the many commitments university students have. I am here to help you along your journey whether it is with course planning, time management skills, or guiding you through any challenges you may face.

University is a special time and I look forward to supporting you along the way.

Colin Schuler Ram

FASS Academic Advisor

I am the academic advisor for the new and exciting Public Policy Minor and Urban Worlds Major programs, along with general FASS. I'm an SFU alumnus in Criminology and Political Science, passionate about supporting students throughout their academic journey. I was actively involved as a student; I led the Criminology Student Association, served as a Peer Mentor, and helped run both the Hiking Club and Backpacking Club, which I founded. I've since worked across campus from facilitating study abroad programs, to student recruitment, engagement, and advising.

Outside from work, I'm a devoted music fan. You’ll find me at many local concerts, especially metal ones! I also cycle regularly for both leisure and commuting, so you may spot me around town on my bike.

University can be overwhelming, but you’re not alone. I’m here to help—feel free to reach out anytime 🙂

University will be one of the best experiences of your life! My top 5 favorite things about undergrad were:

  1. Meeting people from all around the world and building life-long friendships with them.
  2. Learning about new subjects, ideas, and topics I never even knew existed.
  3. Being able to pursue my passions and discovering new ones along the way.
  4. Joining clubs and collectives with people who had similar interests to mine.
  5. Volunteering!

I’m more than happy to assist you academically through this exciting journey!

Wendy Szeto

FASS Academic Advisor

Welcome to the Fall term, new and returning students! As a new SFU student, it can be quite nerve wracking, but I promise you that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

I had so many expectations in my first year that I had to learn how to take a step back, look at the bigger picture and ask questions. So, feel free to come have a chat, book a Zoom session or even just stop me in the hallway when you see me on campus with my kids!

I'm excited to meet you and be part of your journey here at SFU!

Evan Chang

Student Success Coordinator - FASS One (Surrey)

I am the new Student Success Coordinator for the FASS One Program at our Surrey campus! It will be my pleasure to help students as they transition into university life at SFU. Through academic advising, student mentors, and engaging with campus resources, there are lots of supports to make sure your first year and beyond are a success.

You may have seen me previously as a recruiter for FASS at fairs or your high school. Discovering the right pathway for you is a process that continues even after you accept your offer. I will be happy to help you find the right academic fit as you navigate the start of your SFU studies.
