Areas of interest

Marten Geertsema has a diverse background in geohazards ranging from studies on low gradient landslides in sensitive clays to high elevation ice-rock avalanches, landslide tsunami, and outburst floods. He is interested in disaster response, emergency management, and adaptation strategies for communities and resource sectors. Marten has served on various provincial and international advisory boards. While he remains active in terrain stability analysis and the environmental impacts of landslides, Marten currently focuses his research on hazard cascades in high mountain areas.
