Multi-proxy correlation of lower Nanaimo Group strata between the Suquash and Comox Sub-Basins, Georgia Basin, Vancouver Island
My research is focused on correlating lower Nanaimo Group strata between the Suquash and Comox sub basins (Georgia Basin) on Vancouver Island BC. To do this, I will describe and sample outcrops and cores through the lower Nanaimo Group, and will use sequence stratigraphy, molluscan biostratigraphy, detrital zircon geochronology, and coal and clay geochemistry to derive stratigraphic correlations between these two geographically distinct sub basins. This work will provide the first detailed evaluation of Nanaimo Group strata in the Suquash Basin and its relation to age-equivalent strata elsewhere on Vancouver Island.
