FASS honours best and brightest future leaders: Dean's Undergraduate Fellows

April 16, 2026
2025-2026 FASS Dean's Undergraduate Fellows gathered at SFU's Burnaby Campus in the Diamond Alumni Centre for dinner to celebrate the cohort's successful completion of the program.

Nurturing our best and brightest future leaders, Simon Fraser University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is proud to celebrate the completion of the second cohort of the FASS Dean's Undergraduate Fellowship.

The FASS Dean's Undergraduate Fellowship is a program designed to cultivate the leadership potential of the university’s most promising students selected for their exceptional academic achievements, intellectual potential, and their embodiment of core humanistic values.

Hand-selected and nominated by faculty members, these 22 undergraduate students were invited to the program and participated in seminars with inspiring leaders trailblazing their respective fields. Students heard from leaders in the arts sector including Hilary Atleo from Iron Dog Books and Gary Cristall, the co-founder of Vancouver Folk Festival. Breaking new ground in advocacy work, students heard from Isobel Mackenzie, the former and first Seniors Advocate of BC as well as former MLA for the NDP, Melanie Mark. The fellows were emboldened by the stories of beginnings from leaders in the corporate sector including Pamela Yoon, a senior portfolio manager at RBC, as well as Tamara Vrooman, CEO and President of Vancouver International Airport and Chancellor of SFU.
