Situated on Simon Fraser University's Burnaby campus, the energy-efficient residence building offers unfurnished studio style, one (1), and two (2) bedroom apartments for students. Graduate and Family housing is family focused and is reserved for graduate students and students with a spouse/common-law partner and/or children under 19 years old. The building is located in UniverCity on the East side of campus and is steps away from shops, stores, an elementary school, daycare and the SFU campus.

Family Housing is designed with the idea of “getting to know your neighbours.” Two low rise buildings and a stand-alone community space surround a central courtyard designed for the enjoyment of users of all ages. As a family focused building, residents should expect to hear the sounds of children in the community.

Is Grad and Family Housing right for you?

Families are students with a spouse/common-law partner and/or  students with one or more dependent children under 19 years old. Graduate and Student Family Housing is family focused and is reserved for:

  • Studio units: single graduate students
  • One bedroom units: graduate students with families and single graduate students
  • Two bedroom units: graduate and undergraduate students with families 
  • One adult resident must meet SFU's academic credit requirements to live in family housing

Apartment and room

Grad and Family Housing situation in UniverCity on the Burnaby campus are unfurnished apartments/units. All furniture, including bed, are the responsibility of the renter in each unit to purchase on their own. 

Each apartment and room includes

  • Shaw WiFi High-speed Internet (wireless only)
  • Heat, hot water, electricity
  • Bright flexible spaces to allow for the varying needs of families

Apartment and room do not include

  • Apartment and rooms are unfurnished
  • No air-conditioning.  Buildings are designed for thermal efficiency. Building features provide passive forms of heating/cooling designed to keep building at a consistent temperature year-round
