The Critical Futures book brings together leading scholars, community researchers, and activists to explore how community-engaged research can advance social justice, decolonization, and transformative change in an era of crisis. Through critical essays and field-based case studies, the book challenges conventional academic hierarchies and calls for research practices rooted in solidarity, accountability, and care.
Hosts and book co-editors Stuart Poyntz, Am Johal, and Kari Grain will guide the evening’s conversation, reflecting on the future of engaged scholarship in dialogue with this year’s award recipients.
The evening will conclude with time for community connection and dialogue. This event is open to researchers, students, community partners, practitioners, and all those interested in the future of community-engaged research.
