Professor Emeritus Peter Kennedy Memorial Graduate Award in Macroeconomics
The Peter Kennedy Memorial Graduate Award in Macroeconomics valued at a minimum of $15,000 will recognize one or more graduate students who have demonstrate academic excellence in their research focus in macroeconomics.
2026 - Hau Pang (Eric) Chow
I am a fourth-year PhD student in Economics at Simon Fraser University, which I joined in August 2023. Before joining SFU, I completed my Master of Economics at the Australian National University.
My interest in macroeconomics stems from a desire to understand how macroeconomic shocks and policies affect households differently, particularly in the presence of substantial household heterogeneity and bounded rationality. My current research focuses on heterogeneous-agent and behavioral macroeconomics, exploring how household heterogeneity and imperfect information shape the effects of monetary and fiscal policies, sovereign default, and inequality.
Alongside my research, I have worked as a research and teaching assistant. Looking ahead, I hope to pursue an academic career, developing macroeconomic models that better capture real-world economic behaviour and contribute to policy discussions.
