BC Transfer Pathways: Applying to Economics
Thinking of transferring to SFU's Department of Economics?
Our department maintains accreditation agreements with a number of local institutions. The following sections summarize the long-standing agreements we have with Capilano University, Douglas College, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Langara College and the University of the Fraser Valley. If you are thinking of transferring to SFU from one of these institutions, the coursework you have completed may be applicable to your economics program. Read on for more information.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- When you first transfer to SFU, you will be considered an "intended" economics student. Once you have completed ECON 201 you may apply to declare your economics major.
- The following sections are based off the information available on the BC Transfer Guide and are current as of November 2025. For the most up-to-date information, please refer directly to the BC Transfer Guide, which is the official resource for course transfer agreements between BC institutions.
- Please note that the college/universities listed below are not the only post-secondary institutions you can transfer from. If you are transferring from another institution, you can review the SFU Admissions page for more information.
- You may transfer up to 60 units from your previous institution to use toward your SFU degree.
- For course and program planning, please book an appointment with a member of our advising team after you have transferred.
