Biography

Kristina Kekesi-Lafrance, LLB, LLM is a Clinical Ethicist with Fraser Health Ethics Services. She brings a multidisciplinary background in law, bioethics, and clinical ethics to her practice, teaching and research. Prior to joining Fraser Health, Kristina served as a Clinical Ethicist in the West Island of Montreal and worked as an Academic Associate at McGill University's Centre of Genomics and Policy. She has also contributed to several Research Ethics Boards as a legal representative.

A member of the Quebec Bar since 2018, Kristina began her career in an international law firm before transitioning to the field of bioethics. Her academic work explores the intersection of reproductive health, genomics, and law. Her master's thesis, “In the Context of Mitochondrial Replacement Therapy, Does Genetic Manipulation Produce Triparental Children in the Eyes of the Law?”, was recognized with multiple grants and awards, including funding from the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

Kristina is passionate about examining ethically complex and legally ambiguous issues, and she is deeply committed to addressing these challenges with a human-centered approach. She views each day as an opportunity to deepen her understanding of the human experience and to foster thoughtful dialogue in healthcare ethics.
