SFU is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Timothy Beischlag, a respected scholar, educator and mentor, whose research, teaching and leadership left a lasting impact on students, colleagues and the broader scientific community. A founding member and professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), he served with distinction for nearly two decades after joining SFU in 2007. Beyond his contributions to FHS, Tim was a dedicated advocate for faculty colleagues across the university and served as President of the Simon Fraser University Faculty Association (SFUFA) until September 2026.

“I knew a research-intensive program was where I needed to be when I realized I could not simply accept what I was learning; I needed to understand why,” explains Faculty of Health Sciences graduand Shubh Athwal in pursuing her Master of Science immediately upon completing her undergraduate degree.

Even with a background in the pharmaceutical field, Faculty of Health Sciences graduand Kezia Kesson shares how her Master of Public Health helped her realize she wanted to dive deeper into health-system issues.
