The Faculty of Health Sciences was the first faculty at Simon Fraser University to create its own faculty-level Strategic Research Plan in 2017.
The Plan was developed at the beginning of a new era of Faculty of Health Sciences leadership (under Dean Tania Bubela), 12 years since the Faculty’s inception. Drafted following a 2017 Faculty-wide retreat and ratified in 2018 by Faculty Council, it was instrumental in informing the 2018-2023 Faculty of Health Sciences Academic Plan, guiding resource decision making, faculty engagement, marketing and communications, and student recruitment.
For the 2025-29 Strategic Research Plan, a similar process was undertaken to develop the new direction of the Faculty for the next four years. The timeline of the most recent plan is illustrated below:
