Biography

Vishal Jain is an implementation science scholar at Simon Fraser University (SFU), and the Associate Executive Director at the Social Planning and Research Council of British Columbia (SPARC BC). He has previously held leadership positions with Fraser Health Authority, Health Standards Organization (HSO) and Accreditation Canada.

Vishal holds a Master of Public Health degree concentrating in social inequities and health from SFU and a Bachelor of Arts with honours in human rights from the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies at Carleton University. In academic service, Vishal is an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at SFU. His teaching practice have included undergraduate and graduate-level courses on themes related to the social determinants of health, community and health services, and systems of oppression. His research interests include health equity, human rights, health systems impact, and anti-oppression.

In community service, Vishal has served on several health-related advisory and advocacy committees, including with Healthcare Excellence Canada, CASCADES Canada, and the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing. Vishal has also been an active member in his community serving on the City of New Westminster’s Social Inclusion, Engagement, and Reconciliation Committee. Vishal is currently on an Expert Steering Committee for the InHale International Indoor Air Quality Campaign, launched at the Vancouver Summit in 2025.
