Job Opportunity - Regional Manager, Health and Resource Development

Position Summary

The Regional Manager, Health and Resource Development is responsible for the management and operations of the Office of Health and Resource Development (including the regional air quality program). The role is responsible for providing regional leadership and strategic direction for NH in the area of assessing the impact of industrial resource development on health. The incumbent takes a lead role in liaising or partnering with NH leaders, companies and other jurisdictions across the region, ensuring a strong, consistent health influence in responses to agencies seeking information on the impacts of development and air quality on the health of the public. This role works as a coordinator to help build a common understanding of how industrial developments and air quality will impact Northern communities as well as other parts of the health system. The incumbent participates as a member of the Public Health Senior Leadership Team and works closely with Chief Operating Officers, Medical Health Officers, Health Service Administrators and other key individuals to advance Northern Health’s Industry Strategy.
 
Qualifications

- Bachelor of Sciences degree in Environmental Health, Health Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or relevant health or environmental discipline, e.g., air quality;
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years related experience in Health Protection services, including experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation;
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in human health risk assessments, environmental assessments, health impact assessments, or similar technical health assessments;
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Possession of a valid BC Drivers License.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of human health risk assessments, health impact assessments and environmental assessments.
- Knowledge of the value of the options of health risk management under various scenarios.
- Demonstrated ability to access scientific information and to conduct literature reviews.
- Demonstrated development of scientific expertise.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of research methodology and analysis.
