Position Summary

The FNHA is recruiting for a Senior Policy Analyst to join our Policy, Planning and Quality team!

In this role, the Senior Policy Analyst will undertake policy development, analysis, planning, and research in areas aligned with the FNHA’s policy agenda. This will include the development of reports, presentations, plans and other presentations and publications. The role will provide direct support to management and may be asked to undertake the oversight of project teams and budgets as appropriate.

Effectively working across the Policy, Planning & Quality team, this role will take guidance and direction from various Directors and managers on different aspects of the position, and work to help initiate, maintain, and develop strong and effective working relationships with colleagues, First Nations communities, the First Nations Health Council and First Nations Health Directors Association, health service partners and organizations, and with federal, provincial and external health system partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:
Policy Analysis

·         Undertake policy research, analysis and development in areas associated with the FNHA’s mandate and policy agenda

·         Assume subject-matter responsibility for a specified portfolio area(s) in the FNHA’s policy agenda

·         Develops, recommends and implements practices and procedures

·         Provide policy advice to executive, senior management, and others

·         Undertake project, program and initiative planning

·         Provide advisory and support services to training and curriculum initiatives

External and Internal Relations

·         Support regional and community planning and engagement activities and processes with First Nations, the FNHC, FNHDA, and other health system partners

·         Prepare or oversee preparation of presentations, including  the delivery of presentations to diverse audiences

·         Lead or participate on internal, bilateral and/or tripartite committees and working groups

·         Coordinate and implement opportunities to receive input and guidance from experts within the organization

·         Build and maintain effective working relationships within the FNHA and with the FNHC, FNHDA, First Nations, tripartite partners, and others

Project Coordination

·         Develop, implement and oversee workplans and project plans

·         Manage multiple projects / project elements projects including establishing and overseeing priorities, timelines, methods and standards

·         Recommend procedural changes to improve efficiency

·         Follow up on and ensure appropriate implementation of decisions made by supervisor or project sponsor(s)

·         Work with project management tools and a variety of data entry and analysis software

·         Liaise with collaborators and facilitate effective working relationships with project partners

Qualifications

·         University Degree in a related field such as health policy, public policy, health systems management, political or social science or an equivalent combination of education and experience

·         Recent, relevant, and progressive experience in policy development and analysis (usually acquired over a period of 5-7 years)

·         Experience in working with First Nations and First Nations health programs and services
