SUMMARY OF ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Within the context of a client and family centred model of care and, in accordance with the
Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the person
promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families,
visitors and staff.

Reporting to the Principle Investigator, the Research Coordinator coordinates and conducts
research activities for quantitative and/or qualitative/arts-based methods research studies and
research-related projects. The Research Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and at times
conducting quantitative and, semi-structured qualitative/arts-based research interviews with
study participants. Duties include coordinating research activities such as supervising and/or
mentoring interviewers and other research staff, collecting research data, maintaining research
records, and contributing to the management and analysis of quantitative and qualitative/artsbased
data. The Research Coordinator prepares ethics applications and submissions, partakes in
the design and creation of communications and public relations tools, manages the consent
process and prepares, writes and maintains reports and study documentation. The research
coordinator liaises with community stakeholders to facilitate knowledge translation and build
awareness about research and facilitate and maintain research capacity.

ORGANIZATION

Located in Vancouver, BC, the Centre for Gender and Sexual Health Equity is a UBC/SFUaffiliated
academic research centre housed at Providence Health Care (PHC) (www.cgshe.ca).
The CGSHE has a strategic mandate of community-based research, policy and practice to reduce
gender and sexual health inequities among marginalized populations in BC, Canada and
globally. The CGSHE currently consists of over 70 staff, including academic and clinical
researchers, graduate students, and frontline research staff, working out of our offices at PHC
and our community-based research office in the Downtown Eastside. We work in a highly
collaborative team and strive to hire members from diverse backgrounds and lived experience.
