Analytics Department:

The Analytics Department is a joint TOH/OHRI team that supports TOH in ensuring patients receive the highest quality of care by facilitating greater use of analytics and information systems to improve health system performance. The Analytics Department provides thought leadership to TOH on data governance, performance measurement & operations management, informs strategy development, develops reporting and data access solutions, and offers client services to both research and hospital operations on measurement, data analytics, reporting and data requests. Work is supported by thoughtful understanding and analysis of hospital administrative and clinical data repositories and by working collaboratively with healthcare leaders, physicians, staff, and many other internal and external partners.

Job description:
The Analytics Department is recruiting for 3 Methodologist positions – a new position funded by the Department of Medicine to support quality improvement, and two additional positions not yet tied to specific projects. Depending on the experience, interests, and incoming skills of the applicants, we have flexibility to allocate incoming staff to different subject areas.

Responsibilities:
•Work collaboratively with operational and research stakeholders as well as data system experts to develop analytical solutions
•Transform and link data from administrative and clinical repositories, using SAS and SQL
•Develop deep understanding of data nuances and how to use data repositories to best address analytical questions
•Conduct data quality, exploratory and statistical analyses of the data, primarily using SAS
•Document work using standard practice guidelines
•Design and develop meaningful reports, presentations, and data visualizations
•Take part in team initiatives to enhance our information & analytical knowledge base, standards of practice, and reporting solutions

Basic Requirements:
•MSc in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, or related field
•1- 2 years of related experience
•Experience programming in SAS, SQL, or similar programming language
•Experience building reports using Excel and/or PowerBI
•Experience linking and analyzing healthcare or other large data
•Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
•Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
•Aptitude for research methodology and attention to detail
•Comfortable using Office365 products, including MS Teams

Preferred Qualifications:
•Previous healthcare analytical experience
•Previous experience working with electronic healthcare system data, like EPIC
•Knowledge of analytic methods applied to health services research
•Knowledge of CIHI databases and ICD/CCI coding practices in Canadian hospitals
•Understanding of data modelling
•Demonstrated initiative in the workplace

Contract Details:
All positions are offered as two-year contracts to start with the intention of renewal. The salary range for the Methodologist II position is $31.373 - $45.238/hr. Salary will be commensurate with skills, education, and experience. Employees will be entitled to medical, dental, and pension benefits in addition to 3 weeks paid vacation per annum.
