Description of duties:
The Postdoctoral Fellow will join the Toronto Youth Climate Engagement Strategy Project at the University of Toronto. The project examines how the City of Toronto can enable, empower and equip youth-led leadership in climate action in Toronto to support the implementation of the City’s Climate Action Strategy – TransformTO. This is a community engaged research project delivered in partnership with the City of Toronto where we will co-design a consultation process with youth-led organizations, create a youth (ages 10-25) engagement for climate action strategy for the City of Toronto, and co-construct just transition narratives, visions, and processes for Toronto with the potential to catalyze systemic change. The Postdoctoral Fellow will further the research and community engagement goals of the project and have the opportunity to pursue their own research related to youth and climate action. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also contribute to the management of the project including logistics and overseeing research assistants.

Salary: $70,000 per year including benefits
Qualifications:
1. Candidates must have an awarded PhD or near completion in a relevant field (note that completion does not mean convocation, but rather the satisfaction of all the requirements necessary for graduation).
2. Candidates should have expertise in youth engagement, preferably in the field of climate or environmental action. Their proposed research should relate to aspects of empowering youth-led leadership in climate action in Toronto.
3. Candidates should have strong writing skills and will be expected to contribute to high quality publications, policy documents, and outreach materials.
4. Prior experience in interdisciplinary and community engaged or transdisciplinary research environments is a significant asset.
