Position Highlights:

Do you have strong demonstrated research process experience and project management skills? Bringing these skills along with your strong understanding of ethical standards in conducting research will make you an ideal candidate for this role based in long-tem care and assisted living at Fraser Health. In this key role you will:

  • Coordinate and conduct research activities related to long-term care and assisted living for Fraser Health.
  • Collaborate with the research teams and multiple stakeholders involving residents, family and friend caregivers, care aides, healthcare professionals, managers and directors of long-term care homes.
  • Assist research teams to design and implement research protocols and track the progress of research activities against planned timelines and milestones.
  • Recruit study participants by identifying and screening potential subjects and obtaining informed consent.
  • Coordinate the retrieval and cleaning of routinely collected health data and administrative data
  • Coordinate evidence synthesis activities
  • Coordinate and implement all aspects of data collection and source documentation for each study to ensure quality and integrity of data.
  • Support quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Ensure study related administrative tasks and correspondence are completed such as the preparation and submission of study and required regulatory documents. Prepare and submit applications for ethical review to the FH Research Ethics Board (REB) and other REB's, as required, and ensure that all applicable approvals for conducting research in FH and other sites are obtained.
  • Maintain, monitor, calculate, process, and summarize financial data, records, and information for projects.
  • Provide direction and leadership to research related staff, including the supervision of research assistant, students and volunteers, within the scope of the projects, as appropriate.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication among researchers within FH and other health authorities.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant applications for new research projects and ensure that FH pre-award and post-award requirements are maintained.
  • Maintain an awareness of new developments and trends through keeping up to date with the scientific literature, contact with peers at other organizations, and attendance at seminars, workshops, and education programs, as appropriate.
  • Support knowledge dissemination activities through the preparation of grant proposals, research presentations and posters, project summaries, and manuscripts for publication
  • Provide other administrative support functions including arranging internal/external meetings as required by booking rooms, notifying participants, confirming attendance, ordering catering, and preparing agenda; prepare and distribute handouts; make travel arrangements as necessary; maintain and organize appointment calendars; record, prepare and distribute minutes and agenda; follows up on action items as required.
  • Participate in education and professional development programs for personal and team growth and conducts literature reviews to support the research development.

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health sciences or related discipline.
  • Three years recent, related research experience including project management working with multi-disciplinary research items
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered

This one year temporary full-time position is based at our Central City offices in Surrey, BC, with access to rapid transit, shopping, restaurants, on-site gym and other amenities.  Depending on the project, the position may be located at different locations, including an opportunity to work from home.
