Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative (PSSI):

Horizontal Salmon Policy & Results team leads the coordination of strategic salmon policy advice / messaging across the Department, as well as integrated departmental planning, performance measurement, and evaluation across Pacific salmon programs. The team's projects include developing senior management briefing products (Minister, Cabinet, parliamentary committees, and central agencies presentations), designing a Pacific salmon results strategy, and supporting executive governance committees.

Strategic Salmon Data & Analytics team leads the development, integration, and coordination of policies and processes to effectively govern, manage, and use Pacific salmon data assets, in alignment with the departmental data strategy and Government of Canada’s digital strategy. The team is a key part of the Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative Secretariat and the department’s efforts to strategically leverage Pacific salmon data to enhance transparency and trust. Some of team’s activities includes leading interbranch data management and governance, developing internal and external data communities and networks, and exploring new opportunities in data analytics and technologies that enables innovative and transformational use and management of data.

Reconciliation and Partnerships (R&P):

Policy Analysis and Treaty Support team leads the development, integration and analysis of policies and processes that support transformative change in the department’s relationship with Indigenous Peoples through treaty and reconciliation agreements.  The teams projects include developing tools and guidance on collaborative governance, Indigenous fisheries and implementation of existing treaties and agreements.  The team also support the development of Memoranda to Cabinet for new treaty and reconciliation mandates, and develops senior management briefing products (Minister, Deputy Minister, Regional Director General).
