“I knew a research-intensive program was where I needed to be when I realized I could not simply accept what I was learning; I needed to understand why,” explains Faculty of Health Sciences graduand Shubh Athwal in pursuing her Master of Science immediately upon completing her undergraduate degree.

Even with a background in the pharmaceutical field, Faculty of Health Sciences graduand Kezia Kesson shares how her Master of Public Health helped her realize she wanted to dive deeper into health-system issues.

FHS professor Kelley Lee lent her expertise to the National University of Singapore and The Lancet PRIME Commission to propose a new "whole-of-society" approach to improve equity and efficacy in pandemic readiness.

Faculty of Health Sciences students Taelor Lay, Tahani Shraida, Taylor Atwater, and Amanda Yonkman successfully secured funding to support their graduate studies via the CIHR Canada Graduate Research Scholarship program.

Faculty of Health Sciences researchers Drs. Naomi Maldonado-Rodriguez and Amanda Rowlands each received a Postdoctoral Fellowship award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

FHS Postdoctoral Fellow Callista Ottoni Health Systems Impact (HSI) fellowship is enabling her to support Vancouver Coastal Health's Healthy Environments and Climate Change (VCH HECC) team in their efforts to improve climate change-related health outcomes for older adults.

Marie-Françoise Malo, a PhD candidate in bioethics in a joint program between Simon Fraser University and Université de Montréal.

FHS alumnus and PhD student Anmol Swaich has won a Vanier Graduate Scholarship, one of Canada's top doctoral studies awards. She will be exploring how immigration policies and labour conditions shape unregulated drug use amongst South Asian men working in trades.
