November Update

November 05, 2021

The renovations to the Faculty of Health Sciences Student Commons are nearly complete! We are currently awaiting a few final repairs to the space, but are ready to open. We will be opening sections of the Student Commons in phases to ensure that our community remains safe and healthy during the fall semester.

PHASE 1 - November 8th

The first part of the FHS Student Commons to open will be the lounge (BLU 10716), where Health Sciences students can study, relax, chat and eat. The lounge will open on Monday, November 8 and will be available to students from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Access will be via key code at the North entrance only. This code has been emailed to all FHS students. Please note the doors will lock automatically at 4:30pm.

All occupants in the lounge must follow SFU safety guidelines and wear a non-medical mask while indoors (except while eating). The windows in the lounge may be opened to encourage circulation of fresh air, but the lounge door must remain closed at all times. The rules of conduct for the lounge will be posted in the space – we ask everyone to be respectful and to observe these rules while sharing the space with the rest of the FHS community.

PHASE 2 - No date set

The second phase will involve opening the central study and lounge space in the FHS Student Commons to all students. The date for the roll out of this phase will be contingent on the ending of the fourth wave of the pandemic. Details about this opening will be circulated closer to the date.

During the Phase 1 opening of the FHS Student Commons Lounge, initial access to the space will be facilitated by the Faculty of Health Sciences Receptionist in the Dean’s Office.

Questions? Complaints? Contact the FHS Receptionist at the Dean’s Office (BLU 11300).
