The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) is proud to host Roots of Well-being: Understanding Social Foundations of Health, a FREE panel discussion with FHS faculty members on Thursday, September 24th from 3:00pm-5:00pm.

This panel will consist of the following:

  • Creating a space where students and community members can not only learn about how social factors tie to their wellbeing, but how these ideas are consistent across many research areas. 
  • Bringing together researchers working across different areas of health equity and population health to explore how the social environments in which people live, grow, and interact shape health and well-being.
  • A moderated discussion intended to connect themes such as social determinants of health, youth development, Indigenous wellness, community health, equity, and social epidemiology.

Hosted by FHS student Shubh Athwal, the panel will consist of these FHS faculty members: 

  • Dr. Lyana Patrick [Associate Professor, Michael Smith Health Research BC Scholar]
  • Dr. Kiffer Card [Assistant Professor, Blanche and Charlie Beckerman Scholar for Public Health Innovation, Health Research BC Scholar]
  • Dr. Kimberly Thomson [Assistant Professor]

Free food and refreshments for all attendees.
Attendees will also be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a $100 Starbucks giftcard.
