Planning for the future: a vision for SFU Burnaby
Board of Governors Adopt SFU Burnaby 2065 Plan!
The SFU Burnaby 2065 Campus Master Plan was completed in early 2020, following two years of work by the Project Team, and significant community engagement throughout the process. The Campus Master Plan has now been reviewed by SFU’s Board of Governors, and was adopted at the Board’s March 19, 2020 meeting as “the guiding document for future development on the Burnaby Campus”. This marks an important milestone, representing the completion of the planning process, and the first step in the implementation of the plan! Following direction from the Board, SFU’s executives can now work with Campus Planning and Development to integrate the Campus Master Plan into all of the University’s planning and development processes, which will guide ongoing investment in the campus to realize the Plan’s vision over the coming decades.
The Final Campus Master Plan
The final Campus Master Plan is the result of the Project Team's work over the past 2 years, providing a framework to guide the evolution of the physical campus over the next 50 years. The report has been informed by input from the SFU Community and stakeholders through every stage of the project, including a series of key stakeholder interviews and workshops, an online survey, a Design Review Panel, an Executive Steering Committee, and two public open houses. All of the feedback received through these community engagement activities has been invaluable in shaping the final draft of the Campus Master Plan, which is now being considered by SFU's administration for approval.
