Engagement
Partnering with diverse arts and culture organizations, industry research partners, and other educational institutions is at the core of FCAT's collaborative and interdisciplinary identity. We believe in providing our students with opportunities for hands-on learning that connects them with their community.
If you are interested in partnering with us to find new insights in media communications; uncover solutions to intractable design challenges; harness the power of media, art and design, or explore research opportunities that reach across traditional academic boundaries; get in touch at fcateng@sfu.ca.
Students who graduate from FCAT have innovative critical thinking skills in order to succeed in digital media, communications, design and the arts. During their degree, we strive to provide them with opportunities to explore their career options and connect with established alumni. We also love to reconnect with our alumni to hear about their successes, and we often invite them back to provide workshops for our students, speak at events, or help us to complete an important project.
Alumni podcast series
FCAT is supporting the development of an alumni podcast for each of our schools. The SIAT podcast, Studio Bytes, is hosted by current student Amena Salman. Our School of Communication, School for the Contemporary Arts, and Publishing Program will soon be releasing their own alumni podcast. Stay tuned for new episodes.
Alumni upskilling workshops
FCAT is committed to supporting our alumni through all stages of their academic and professional ventures. Beginning in Spring 2022, FCAT will be hosting a number of workshops designed to provide alumni with the skills necessary to continue developing their expertise in areas of communications, design, arts, digital media and entrepreneurship.
Publishing 25th anniversary MPub alumni website
This collection of stories, interviews and photos marks a quarter century of the publishing program at SFU, celebrating faculty members who have been there from the start (and some who’ve joined more recently), all the alumni who have passed through the program, and current students who will soon join their ranks.
FCAT Alumni Awards
FCAT is pleased to recognize the achievements of our alumni through three annual FCAT Excellence Awards. Alumni will be celebrated through a number of awards categories: Distinguished Alumni Award, Young Alumni Award, and Alum of the Year Award. Learn more about the award criteria and nomination process.
