Fall 2021 Convocation: Looking back

October 07, 2021

We called on two of this year’s Fall 2021 FCAT graduates to reflect on their experiences as university students and how it feels to graduate.

Isabelle Soares is graduating this fall with a BA in Interactive Arts and Technology. After convocation, she will move to San Francisco to work at LinkedIn full-time as a user experience designer.

Graduating with a BA in Communication, Harvin Bhathal will continue his studies at Concordia University to pursue a Master of Arts, Digital Innovation in Journalism Studies.

As they approach convocation, Harvin and Isabelle reflect on their most memorable experiences at SFU.

Isabelle recalls a time she and her team worked overnight at the Surrey campus for a SIAT group project, “It was super exhausting but also super memorable and really fun.”

Harvin’s fondest memories come from spending time in The Peak offices with co-workers who eventually became great friends.

The two FCAT graduates look forward to entering the next chapter in their lives.

“Commit to keep learning in life,” Isabelle advises fellow graduates, “Just because you’re graduating doesn’t mean you can’t keep growing and learning.”

Harvin adds, “Our journeys have just begun. There’s no way we’re going to get through them happy and fulfilled without some sense of balance in our lives.”
