Student Awards

Student awards help our academically strong students get the most from their education, provide critical financial support for students who could not otherwise afford an education, and through unique programs and exchanges allow them to gain workplace skills and community understanding.

Your scholarship, bursary or award can celebrate a personal milestone, honour the memory of someone dear, raise the profile of your organization, or recognize a special achievement (such as community volunteerism) and encourage those qualities in others. SFU Awards can be established in two ways: an endowed award and an annual award.

An endowed award will generate a lasting legacy of support through the interest generated on the gift. For example, a gift of $25,000 will generate $1,000 in interest per year in perpetuity. Larger gifts will make more funds available, at a consistent rate of 4% interest per year.

An annual award will help fill an immediate need and will be distributed until the end of the gift’s term. An annual award can be established with a gift of $1,000 (or more) annually for a minimum of a three-year term.

In-kind Donations

The Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology gratefully receives equipment and supplies from industry partners to enrich its research, teaching labs and overall student experience. For more information about the process for in-kind donations please contact us.

Planned and Future Giving

There are several ways to support FCAT with gifts that don’t impact the way you currently live. And others, which can significantly lower the cost of giving.

Examples include wills and bequests, public securities, life insurance and endowments. A well-planned gift allows you to make a donation that takes full advantage of tax considerations and minimizes the impact on your family security and lifestyle, while maximizing the impact of your contribution.
