Herbert H. Tsang is a professor of computing science and mathematics at Trinity Western University, where he joined the faculty in 2011. He is also Adjunct Professor at School of Interactive Arts and Technology, Simon Fraser University and CTO of Credo Interactive Inc. Previously, he served as R&D engineer at MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates where he worked on projects for the Canadian Space Agency and Canadian Navy.

His scientific research focused on computational intelligence with applications in design space exploration, bioinformatics, computational criminology, and mobile computing. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Also, he is a registered professional engineer in BC.

Besides scientific research, Tsang is also a professionally trained conductor. He is on the faculty of Place des Arts and directed orchestra concerts and operas productions. In 2007, Tsang was selected as one of eight Tanglewood II Symposium Scholars. This international symposium brings together distinguished international scholars to cultivate a new understanding of music learning for the 21st Century.

In 2019 he was awarded the Excellent and Innovation - Partnership & Collaboration Award from the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education (CNIE) and he won the 2018 International E-Learning Awards in the Mobile Learning - Academic Division, the International E-Learning Association (IELA).
