Description: Our base idea for our pavilion was to focus on the concept of organic forms and structures and consider the grand sweeping motions behind aquatic creatures and their relationship with nature and all lifeforms. Looking at the form and shape language of orca whales and manta rays, we took inspiration from the wide fins, utilizing them as both walls and as seating spaces that reflect the shape and concept behind symbiotic relationships between large and small sea creatures, who have a tendency to take shelter under these large expanses. Located in Holland Park near the north intersection, the open design of the pavilion allows for multiple exits and entrances for visitors who are coming from the street or from deeper inside the park. The pavilion utilizes a net-weaving parametric formation that provides both a unique interior and exterior viewing experience for the visitor.
