A Partea!
Interactive System
By: Lucia Vo, Lynn Cao, Ren Nguyen, Selena Chang
Course: IAT 267 Introduction to Technological Systems
Description: Our interactive sculpture introduces children to a tea party inspired by Beauty and the Beast characters Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Chip, and Cogsworth. Guided by Cogsworth, users complete tea party tasks like setting the table, steeping, and serving tea.
Physical and technological components bring characters to life. Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, and Chip are physical models, while Cogsworth is a digital guide in our Processing program. Sensors, LEDs, and motors enhance interactions. Touch sensors in the teacup, candle, and invitation detect user input, triggering state changes and Arduino outputs like RGB LEDs. Photoresistors in the teapot and saucers detect object coverage, while a tilt sensor simulates pouring tea. RGB LEDs mimic effects like flickering flames and liquid pouring, while servomotors allow the candle, teapot, and teacup to "dance" after preparation, creating a whimsical, engaging experience.
