The Eternal Dusk
Game
By: Muskan Kalra, Christian Santos, Sanya Kalra, Jacob Tang
Course: IAT 313 Narrative and New Media
Description: Our project adapts the script Eternal Dusk into a cooperative fantasy board game with narrative driven mechanics. This submission explores our process of translating the story's themes, characters, and challenges into an interactive format that engages players through storytelling, decision-making, and gameplay mechanics.
Story Summary:
Eternal Dusk follows Faye, a young girl who discovers her latent magical powers while battling the rise of eternal darkness led by the Vampire Lord. Alongside her allies, Colin and Gobba, she embarks on a journey of survival, moral choices, and self-discovery.
Integration into Gameplay:
- The physical board represents key locations, allowing players to traverse and interact with the world.
- Scenarios reflect the world’s themes, from defending the village to infiltrating the castle.
Narrative Structure in Gameplay:
- Prologue: Introduces Faye’s backstory and the impending threat of eternal darkness.
- Act I: Players defend the village, forming bonds and facing their first moral choices.
- Act II: As they navigate the Enchanted Forest, players uncover secrets, gather resources, and make decisions affecting future outcomes.
- Act III: The climax unfolds in the Vampire Castle, where the team confronts the Vampire Lord in a battle influenced by prior choices.
