Important Spring 2023 course update:

Please note that all prerequisites waiver requests for ALL CMNS 200 level courses will NOT be waived. The only exceptions are for students who:

  • Obtain a minimum CMNS CGPA of 3.50
  • CMNS 110 and CMNS 130 transferred from another institution, must have a minimum grade of "A" for both courses
  • Have 70 units or higher with the completion of a Writing course and a minimum grade of C- for both CMNS 110 and CMNS 130. Please note that this exception will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis

If you meet either of the requirements above and wish to take CMNS 120W alongside CMNS 200 level courses, please submit the waiver form here.

The 9 CMNS unit prerequisite listed on the SFU Calendar for CMNS 200 division courses will be implemented for the upcoming Spring 2023 term.

For new students who were declared into the program from Spring 2022 onwards, to meet the 9 CMNS unit prerequisite, students will have to complete CMNS 110, CMNS 120W, and CMNS 130.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Zed (cmns1@sfu.ca) with your student number included.
