My name is Gunpreet Kaur. As an MSc Finance student of SFU Beedie, I am pursuing the specialization in risk management stream. Besides this, I am volunteering as Risk Officer at Student Investment Advisory Services Fund worth 23million dollars at SFU and I am also volunteering at PRMIA Vancouver chapter where I get acquainted with the latest developments in the area of financial risk. Prior to this, I worked as a Bank Manager in India for seven years. I am indebted to the Punjab State Cooperative Bank for assigning me various roles and responsibilities and thus sharpening my professional skills and I specialize in the area of operational risks in banking specially frauds. Due to my interest, I did certified courses in risk management and KYC and AML norms. I am also planning to earn ORM from PRMIA before the completion of my MSc program. My strength is that I love taking initiatives and I am skilled at prioritizing the tasks to meet the deadlines.

Master of Science in Finance with specialization in Risk Management provides a solid foundation in core finance with courses in derivatives, financial tools, financial economics and risk management. The program curriculum offers innovative approaches to learn, including seminars, value-added presentations, case analyses, online market simulations etc.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?
