Student Profile: Sharina Bansal
Management of Technology master's student in the Beedie School of Buisness
An Management of Technology (MOT) MBA student who is thrilled to start my program in Fall 2021. I love to lead teams as a well-oiled machine, motivating and guiding them, to realize project objectives solving a problem or delivering a solution. Over the last 7 years, I have enjoyed, working and leading teams for various project for Canadian Government, British Government, ICBC, and Change Healthcare. Currently, I am working with Change Healthcare leading the EI resource model project to develop a cloud data model and visualization dashboards to transform and integrate operational and financial information of various R&D departments. I love to read, indulge in travelling, enjoy meeting new people and discussing new perspectives. My bucket list includes Bungee Jumping and Skydiving. Reach out to talk about books, new technology, sky diving, or living in Vancouver!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?
While BBA equipped me well to kick start my career and progress professionally, an MBA is a critical step towards actualizing my career objectives. I visualize myself leading projects to achieve business objectives making a significant impact via technological innovations. Though my diverse experience carved my career as a successful Business Analyst, I have a dearth of expertise in IT industry. I chose SFU's MOT MBA as I believe this program will help me cultivate an innovative and opportunistic business mindset and provide me in-depth understanding of IT industry to accomplish my goals. Moreover, it was a program strongly recommended by my colleagues who are also SFU Alumni and experts in their field.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?
SFU's MOT MBA is a challenging and stimulating program that will help me take my career to the next level. The program is designed to evolve my career in the field of technology and help me develop a leadership acumen. This program is balanced mix of technology and business which is what the world needs in their leaders right now.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?
I am yet to start my program in September 21st. I am super excited and looking forward to meet my cohort come fall!
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE?
The world and the career paths have evolved a lot in the last decade since I graduated from my Bachelor's Program. The technological advances have led to greater interdependence of industries. Technology is no more a separate industry but a core function of businesses in every industry. Therefore, I decided to change my career to align my goals to the growing demands of the economy and to keep pace with that.
