Student Profile: Ashish Sinha
Computing Science master's student in the Faculty of Applied Sciences
I am a Fall 2021 MSc Thesis student. I did my Bachelors in Materials Science. When I'm not doing research, I binge-watch anime, play badminton or read novel novels/ sketch.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?
I liked the idea of studying in Canada owing to its strong focus on research in Machine Learning, and I found a supervisor at SFU who seemed to be a great fit for me. Plus, the thought of living near Vancouver was fascinating!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?
You see those TikTok filters/ Apple emojis/ youtube suggesting you a song based on what you just listened to? Yes, I work in that field, I try to improve those system by doing research.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?
Not yet started.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PROGRAM/POSTDOC POSITION TO SOMEONE STILL SEARCHING FOR A PROGRAM OR POSTDOC POSITION?
Look for a good fit with your advisor.
