Interactive Arts & Technology master's student in the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology

Pinyao Liu is a media artist, researcher and Mixed Reality developer, working at the intersection of art and emerging technology. His work has been exhibited at the 13th Shanghai Biennale with an exhibition at Shanghai contemporary art museum Power Station of Art.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?

Because when I was doing my mitacs globalink research internship, I met my current supervisor and we found each other a great match

We are leveraging Virtual Reality technology to foster human connection and positive emotions.

I received a $15,000 graduate fellowship award from Mitacs. When I was attending class remotely in Shanghai during Covid, the awards helped support my research and design, and one of my interactive artwork "breath of light" ended up being exhibited at the 13th Shanghai Biennale
