Biography

Hernán Camarero was born in Buenos Aires in 1966. He trained as a Professor of History at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires, where he later earned his PhD in History. He also completed a Master’s degree in History at the Torcuato Di Tella University. He currently serves as a Principal Researcher at CONICET, based at the Institute of Argentine and American History “Dr. Emilio Ravignani.” At the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires, he holds the position of Chair Professor of Argentine History III.

Over the past decade and a half, he has stood out as the founder and director of the academic journal Archivos de historia del movimiento obrero y la izquierda (Archives of the History of the Labor Movement and the Left) and of the Center for Historical Studies of Workers and the Left (CEHTI), a space dedicated to research, training, and outreach, which also houses an extensive library and a valuable documentary archive.

Research Interests

His research focuses on the social and political history of twentieth-century Argentina, with particular emphasis on the trajectory of left-wing movements and their connections with the labor movement, in a comparative and transnational perspective. He has authored more than 100 publications in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, France, Spain, the United States, Russia, Germany, Costa Rica, and Israel, including books, book chapters, and articles in specialized journals.
