Raquel Rego

Raquel Rego is Assistant Professor of Sociology of Work and Labour Relations at Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (Iscte-IUL), in Portugal, and senior researcher at CIES-Iscte.

Her research interests focus mainly on trade unions and other non-profit associations. She has collaborated with the European Observatory of Working Life from Eurofound, and provided consultancy services to several organisations, including national and international trade unions. She has edited, with Hermes Augusto Costa, the book The Representation of Workers in the Digital Era – Organizing a Heterogeneous Workforce, in 2022, at Palgrave MacMillan, and she was a member of the Organizing Committee for the Colloquium Sindicalismo, Trabalho e Cidadania – 90 Anos Depois do 18 de Janeiro de 1934, which was held at Iscte-IUL in 2024. This colloquium evoked the attempted general strike of 1934 during the dictatorship (1926-74) before the weakening of the trade union movement.
