Biography
Edlira Xhafa is the Executive Director of the Online Academy of the Global Labour University. She has a master's degree in Labour Policies and Globalisation from the Global Labour University (Germany) and holds a PhD in Labour Studies from the University of Milan, Italy. Her involvement in the labour movement started in 2000 in her own country, Albania, and later on she has engaged with national trade unions in other countries such as the Philippines, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, Trinidad and Tobago. She has also worked for, and collaborated with various Global Union Federations, International Labour Organisations, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and others. Edlira has authored and co-authored a number of book chapters, journal articles, discussion papers and research reports. She has also co-edited two books.
Research Interests
Her areas of research include among others, public services, inequality, workers’ rights and industrial relations, labour and environment and alternatives beyond capitalism. She has (co)authored a number of peer-reviewed book chapters and articles published in internationally-recognized journals and other academic publications.
