Biography

Aurora Trif is an Associate Professor specializing in Comparative Employment Relations at Dublin City University Business School. Originally from Romania, where she competed as an international rower, she has lived in various European countries since 1997. Her interest in the labour movement began during her MA in Political Science at the University of Surrey. She completed her PhD in Industrial Relations in the UK, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne. Since 2005, she has been working in academia in Ireland.

Research Interests

My research interests include comparative employment relations, precarious work, trade union innovation, workplace partnership and trust at work. I’ve published in international scholarly journals, such as Human Relations, British Journal of Industrial Relations and European Journal of Industrial Relations.

I have contributed to several international projects. I led a European Commission-funded project addressing precarious work across 10 countries. I’m currently involved in research projects focused on trust in relations between unions and employers across Europe, and training trade unions to address psychosocial risks in the metal sector.

Talks and Publications

I was invited to speak about the role of legislation and trade unions in addressing precarious work at international conferences as well as at events organised by the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Confederation of Independent Trade Unions (CESI).
