Biography

Alexandru Lita was born in Bucharest, Romania. He got his BA in political science and his MA in Labor Studies at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration. Currently, he is a PhD candidate in sociology at Babeș-Bolyai University, with a thesis that explores the connection between commuting and local development in Cluj Metropolitan Area. Since 2019, he has been working on several research projects with Dalhousie University on the topics of refugees and labor migration in various countries. Between July 2023 and December 2024 he worked on a research project with the University of Bucharest, exploring the access to higher education in post-socialist Romania.

Research Interests

His research interests are influenced by his life background in rural Romania during the gray years of transition to capitalism, his activist background in various groups for workers’ rights, and also, by his work experience in multiple sectors. His main research interests gravitate around labor issues and include labor and local development, labor migration, industrial relations, and collective actions.
