Mgr. Bc. Adam Šumichrast, Ph.D.

Adam Šumichrast, PhD., is a researcher at CELSI. He focuses on labour history and industrial relations, particularly trade union-related research, including topics such as collective bargaining, social dialogue, industrial unrest, and new forms of work. He has experience from multiple international research projects, including several Horizon Europe projects, and maintains regular cooperation with European institutions such as the European Trade Union Institute. His work has a strong focus on Central and Eastern Europe.

In 2024, he defended his PhD thesis at Masaryk University titled Transformation or Extinction? The Development of Trade Unions in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the Slovak State in the Context of European Dictatorships. The dissertation examined the development of trade unions in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the Slovak State during the Second World War, analysing these developments within the broader context of European dictatorships and their influences.
