CIHR CGS & Doctoral Awards

Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is committed to supporting graduate students through their Health Research Training Award Programs, which includes The Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarship Doctoral Awards (CGS-D) program. This program provides support to students who are pursuing a doctoral degree in a health-related field in Canada.

October 1, 2020

Award Value:
$35,000 per year for up to three years

Candidate Eligibility:

  • Canadian citizens
  • permanent residents of Canada

International students are not eligible to apply

Applications are adjudicated, and available funds awarded, through a merit review process.

Complete your application

Follow the application instructions.
Complete applications must be submitted no later than October 1st. No late applications will be accepted.
