Teacher Education Financial Resources
Simon Fraser University expresses its commitment to excellence by offering a number of scholarships and awards. The Faculty of Education, Preservice Professional Studies also administers several private scholarships and awards made possible by generous donations.
SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS
There are a variety of award and scholarship types to reward academic achievements. SFU defines them below:
Private Awards
These private awards recognize outstanding students who have made a contribution to the faculty, university, or broader community. Private awards and scholarships are generally awarded after the completion of the final term (EDUC 405/406).
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum of 2.0 CGPA
- Submission of a portfolio
- Completion of the PDP, PLP, or PQP
- Application deadline:
January 31, 2025
(unless noted otherwise)
Private Scholarships
These private scholarships recognize outstanding students who have also achieved a high academic standing. Private awards and scholarships are generally awarded after the completion of the final term (EDUC 405/406).
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum of 3.5 CGPA
- Completion of the PDP, PLP, or PQP
- Application deadline:
January 31, 2025
Bursaries
The following bursaries do not require a portfolio and are adjudicated by the Financial Aid and Awards office.

OTHER AWARDS
In addition to the private awards and scholarships. Preservice Professional Studies also administers the granting of several other awards. These awards have different requirements and application deadlines.
