Dr. Angel Lin receives SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant

July 20, 2020

Congratulations to Dr. Angel Lin! Dr. Lin received a one-year $25,000 SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant in the December 2019 competition.

Dr. Lin’s research project, Co-Designing Innovative Strategies in Developing Multilingual Students’ STEM Literacies was co-developed closely with her postdoctoral fellows, Drs. Bong-gi Sohn and Arlene Spracklin.

The project aims to help close the gap of educational differences of multilingual students through their development of 21st century critical literacies through a combination of career and life skills, learning and innovation skills, and information, media and technology skills.

"We are excited about receiving this grant as it accelerates our research project with local school communities," says Dr. Lin. "Currently, we are conducting the research with a homeroom teacher remotely to understand and foster students and teacher’s well-being during this pandemic situation to advance our classroom research project in a more nuanced way."

Valued at $25,000, the Partnership Engage Grant, established by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), provides short-term and timely support for partnered research activities that inform decision-making at a single partner organization from the public, private or not-for-profit sector.
