Mathematics Education explores the teaching and learning of mathematics across educational contexts, with attention to research, professional practice and the development of educators, scholars and leaders.
Faculty members in this area examine mathematics education in primary, secondary, post-secondary, and teacher education contexts. Their work engages with questions related to mathematical thinking, classroom practice, curriculum, assessment, creativity, technology, numeracy and the histories, concepts and practices that shape mathematics education.
As a doctoral student focused on mathematics education, you will deepen your understanding of mathematics and its teaching and learning while developing the capacity to conduct research that contributes to scholarship and practice. In addition to coursework, you will benefit from participation in a scholarly community and opportunities for collaboration with peers.
