Undergraduate Studies in Education
Popular with students from a wide variety of disciplines, Education minors are designed to complement nearly every major/minor area of study.
From counselling and human development to educational psychology, the Faculty of Education can help you discover the educational theories, research and practices that will serve you well in your future career.
COUNSELLING AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT MINOR
This minor combines theoretical, empirical and practical matters central to the understanding and practice of counselling and human development.
CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION MINOR
This minor provides theoretical and practical expertise in contemporary approaches to curriculum development and instructional design.
EARLY LEARNING MINOR
This minor provides a focus for students wishing to work with children aged three through eight.
EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY MINOR
This minor makes theoretical and experimental inquiries into how students learn from instruction, how they acquire and express motivation in educational settings, and how they develop skills in school subjects and for learning.
LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT DISABILITIES MINOR
This minor enhances understanding of learning and developmental disabilities, and explores an interdisciplinary approach to the health, education and care of infants, children and adults with disabilities.
SOCIAL JUSTICE IN EDUCATION MINOR
Students will explore the historical roots and ongoing patterns of social and educational injustice with an emphasis on the Canadian context, including responses to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action. Students will develop the theoretical and practical tools necessary to recognize and challenge injustice and create more equitable practices. Students are encouraged to choose courses that build on their individual interests in social justice.
